Catch-22 (Part 3 of 4)

Before we commence with the pitch of our product, kindly allow us to set up a premise and present some not-so-rhetorical questions.

Question 1

In spite of laws and regulations, protocols and regulatory authorities, why are there so many cases of corruption, fraud and scams?

Question 2

In spite of having a strong financial foundation, infrastructure, human resources and favorable market conditions, why do so many organisations show inconsistent growth?

Question 3

In spite of having access to world-class software and hardware, why is the "Gordian knot" of mismatch between data, dataset and precise data mining & data analysis not broken?

Question 4

In spite of various reporting tools, communication devices and 24x7 high-speed Internet, why is there a communication gap between the higher authority and their team members which result in delays, financial losses and credibility to an organization?

Question 5

Mid-level employee John Doe gets calls from his office during his personal time on weekends and holidays. The ubiquitous network of communications has become a bane rather than a boon for him lately. His personal life and office persona have merged to such an extent that he is no longer able to do justice to either his family nor his organization. What should John do to help him prevent burnout or lose his precious "me-time"?

Let us now set up a generic premise to understand the financial implications, performance degradation and productivity of most organisations who have faced one or more of the above mentioned factors.

Case 1: Company "Acme Corp." has a Six-sigma procedure for process improvements, and has implemented Kaizen where everybody is striving as one-body.

However, it was seen that precious work hours and days were lost when an issue was detected including the time it took to tackle it. No doubt, that these world-class and time-tested methodologies have made a positive impact on the company, but the crux of the problem lies in the most obvious of factors but usually overlooked or taken for granted- human nature.

Without dabbling into philosophy, psychoanalysis and other principles, we want you to get in the shoes of any employee who works in Acme Corp.

As a top-level employee, one may have finished her/his alloted task; but many processes and operations are dependent and hence the careless or lethargic attitude of one member (one's peer or senior) can affect the performance of the whole team/department. Finally, it can hurt the growth of the whole organization.

Case 2: Employee "Jane Doe" is a mid-level executive working in a government department that scrutinizes tenders and other sensitive information. Jane sees that one of her senior officers is lethargic and complacent. Yet, that officer has survived due to nepotism, cronyism and sycophancy. This puts a negative effect on Jane because she knows for a fact that however hard she herself works, her efforts are always nullified and the credit is taken by her superior. So the next time, Jane herself starts taking less efforts in her work and the situation escalates to such an extent that her department is portrayed in a negative way.

We ask you-the reader, to understand that in spite of having a) Six-sigma, Kaizen, b) World-class facilities, c) Trained human resources, and d) Favorable conditions, each of the organisations in the two case studies have suffered a dip in performance, productivity and credibility due to a small percentage of "dead-woods" - a factor that was overlooked by the best tools in the world!

It is the man at the helm: a top-level manager who is responsible for any outcome; good or bad. Such Managers are few in numbers [around 5% as per our survey]. But they are enough to hurt the morale of the other 95 percent workforce and are the root cause. They hamper an organization's growth due to interdependency of numerous processes and operations in various departments.

So the questions still remain unanswered… Is there a one-stop solution for the issues stated above? The answer is a profound YES!
